Water Maintenance....

Designed purposely for easy care and low maintenance, this spa pool offers plenty but asks little in return.
When you're thinking about buying a spa pool, you want to know how easy it's going to be to maintain and whether the chemical side of things going to be easy, that you're not going to require a PhD to do it.
- Rose Vos
Water treatment is simply a matter of checking and dosing at specified intervals. One elderly Plug 'n Spa owner sums it up perfectly...
It's easy to keep clean, easy installation, easy to cope with at our age. We didn't have to be rocket scientists!
- Jill Rush
To ensure a safe and healthy environment for bathing, and to prolong the life of the equipment, the water in your spa pool needs to be properly 'balanced' and 'purified'.
Before I bought it, I was a bit unsure about the treatment. We have a big in-ground swimming pool and my husband takes care of the treatment of that. I wanted ease of use and economy and I've got both.
- Denise Arnesen
Water balancing
Water balancing is the adjustment of chemicals to the recommended levels of water hardness, pH, and total alkalinity. Spa pool water that is not properly balanced can cause corrosion and etching of pool surfaces, a build up of salts and scale formation, and may also lead to some personal discomfort.

Water balancing is a simple 3-step process, taking no more than ten minutes whenever you change the water. Usually no additional balancing is required during the life of the water, but regular monitoring is recommended.
They're such low maintenance that it's not a bother. It's not like a swimming pool or anything. It's really easy.
- Joanne Dean
Water purification
Water purification is achieved by disinfecting the water. This kills bacteria and controls algae growth.

The most common form of water purification is the use of water-soluble chemical sanitizers such as spa chlorine and bromine tablets. The most important aspect is that the chemicals provide ongoing protection as long as a minimum level of sanitizer is maintained in the water.

Purification using an ozonator is an option (see below) and some alternative non-chemical methods (e.g. oxygen shock) are available and effective in some circumstances. Which of these methods is suitable for you depends on the way you will use your spa pool. Talk to the Spa International customer services team for further information on these methods if you would like to know more.
You want to know how easy it is to use and how easy it is to keep right. I'm the only one that uses it and I just give it a teaspoon of chlorine each night when I've used it. So it's fine, very easy, not a problem. I'm very happy with it.
- Denise Arnesen
Ozonator option
Ozonators are fast gaining popularity with those wishing to use fewer chemicals or who may be allergic to chlorine. Please note that ozonator fittings must be installed at the time of manufacture and cannot be retrofitted.
